MEXICAN SARDINE RUN EXPEDITION

MAGDALENA BAY, MEXICO

Every year, between October and December, large numbers of Pacific Sardines and Mackerel migrate along the Pacific coast of Baja, forming mesmerizing bait balls and attracting a variety of predators who feed off them.

This adrenaline-filled expedition offers a first row seat into one of nature’s wildest shows, as we get to see animals from different species, join together in a coordinated dance to eat.

This is our absolute favorite trip of the year, and the one we are always eager to go back to.

The crown jewel of Baja’s best wildlife raw-action expeditions!

  • Any water activity during this trip is done while snorkeling/freediving, so only basic snorkeling experience is needed. We recommend feeling comfortable in the water to enjoy to the fullest!

We like to limit our expeditions to 6 people max, so everyone is comfortable onboard and underwater, and to avoid being too many and potentially stress the wildlife. (This also means each date is quite limited and spaces fill up quickly.)

  • We can’t ensure any sighting as we are looking for wildlife in their natural environment. But we will do our best to try to find as many animals as possible and whom we can interact respectfully with.

These are some of the many species we can expect to find feeding off the bait balls:

    • Striped Marlin • Mahi Mahi • Sea Lions • Dolphins • Bryde’s Whales • Sei Whales • Humpback Whales • Tuna • Sharks

Other Species we might see around:

    • Humpback Whales • Mobulas • Blue Whales • Different Species of Dolphins • Orca • FalseuKiller Whalls • Pilot Whales • Sea Turtles.
